Wonderful concept. I am a little sad to see that there are no comments on this act. always complain that Govt is not doing anything and now when Gov is aksing us to get involved we are not. Request all dear bangaloreains and people of entire Karnataka to review this and add your comments and feedback.
Year 2020 is far fetched although it can remain as a long term plan specifically targeted for achievement year by year. Further for the elderly 2020 is even more far fetched and will evoke little interest. The act itself will take a long time to crystize as considerable time will be requred to debate and pass it. It is utopian project for them. Why not face the realities of life in Banglore now - pathetic in many ways. For example what is the problem in tackling immediate problems such as discipline at road crossings where even if there are traffic signals very few obey it. Of course many Bangloreans many lack civic sense but enforcement of traffic signals is certainly possible and new law or Mayor is required. On a another note our officialdom in Bangalore is sad and totally unacceptable. If there is no discipline in the official world, no accoutability, no bouyancy and committmet nothing much will progress. What is required "NOW'action while 2020 has a seperate growth for the future.
the concept / idea is great as it takes a look at development in a holistic & systemic manner. However ABIDE should simultaneously foster a citizens movement - organise citizens, make them aware of their rights and take on politicians & bureaucrats when they fail to deliver. Frustration levels are high and people would like to see some amount of immediate improvement - be it the condition of roads or lakes, transport etc. I feel that problem areas need to be identified e.g encroachment of a lake. A task force comprising of ABIDE members and volunteers need to focus and tackle the issue. This way we improve our living conditions while at the same time come together.
- It is an urban development project, people are going to be overwhelmed and discouraged by the magnitude of the entire scenario. A priority order is absolutely necessary to help focus on a single issue at a time. - The planning and execution needs to be done independent of the political party at the helm. This is very critical, or it will be a sheer waste of effort. - And last but not the least.. "To the govt: we are paying taxes AND doing your job". Well, we all can sit back point fingers and we have become pretty good at that too. If this project does make me feel like I can participate and contribute as a citizen of a democracy then I will be gladly willing to lend a hand. We,the people, are after all the government and we should be doing more than just voting and paying taxes.
This is path Breaking and as somone earlier mentioned irrespective of who is in power the structure for Bengalurus Governace is here to stay. One thing That needed to be to looked into was the existence of Apartment complexes and Gated communities that are self sustaining and dont pose a burden to the BBMP overstreched work force and resources no mention has been made of that
Sec35 1(f)The standing committee on social welfare is asked to look after only Schedulaed castes. It doesnot tasked to look after the 1.DISABLED 2.WANDERING MENTALLYILL 3.BEGGARS AND EUNUCH BEGGARS 4.SENIOR CITIZENS 5.tHE MOST VULNERABLE BACKWARD CLASS, OLD DISABLED MENTALLYILL WOMEN.
